Yes, tonight is the night of the vice-presidential debates. Jessica took Sequoia to her friends’ house so she could watch it on tv. I bowed out as graciously as I could, but listened to it on the radio for as long as I could stand it. I just turned the radio off. I couldn’t take it any more.

OMG, Palin said “noo-kyoo-ler.” or maybe she said “new-kew-ler.” Or was it “new-kyiou-lar”??? However it should be spelled, she certainly did not say “nuclear,” which is what she meant to say. Or was it what she meant to say? I mean, she said it like five fucking times in a row. Maybe she mispronounced it intentionally. Maybe while she was prepping for the debates with her coaches, they told her, don’t get pinned down on policy specifics, just talk about how great McCain is and attack Biden over and over for being a Washington insider, oh and by the way, you know the guy who’s currently president? He has terrible grammar and can’t pronounce a common three syllable word. Maybe if you emulate him, you’ll get into the white house too! And she was like, what a great idea!

Bush is talking about “Palin” … I dont know shit about Palin. She read sports for Alaska local news … guess she is more qualified than Bush for public speaking engagements.

The audience response sounds orchestrated for Bush’s speech pauses.

“wisdom of the American people …” seriously? we Americans are idiots … look at cable news …

“Experience” - what is presidential experience exactly? and Bush was so frickin’ inexperienced … couldnt even run a business.

Laura “has seen the burdens” and gives props to Cindy. Cindy is pastey and has discussed “land-mine” issues with eastern europeans. Cindy could have been vice president, I guess.

guess it sucks cause they are in some Hurricane Command Center wondering if another shoe on yet another foot is going to drop … waiting for a storm and appearing “ready”. Hurricanes aren’t rocket science, eh? You just have to be ready. We werent ready with Katrina so now they cancel their own shit to “appear” ready. But are they ready? No - they only built dikes for Category 2-3 storms not frickin 5’s. So if Gustav was a 5, then NOLA would still be f’d. So would we have given a shit? well - since noone stayed in NOLA, it would have been ok-ish. But still wouldnt have guaged what the American govt would be ready for since everybody evacuated and did the work for them.

John McCain was tortured a shitload. that is fucked. the whole war thing is fucked … we humans suck.

the audience just seems rapt by the pain and then relieved that it didnt happen to them, but somehow they can claim it as their own. “I will vote for you, John! cause you dealt with some shit. I didnt - but you did. so let me just co-opt your pain and feel like I did that and then releverage my guilt against my own and then bury it and say its ok. let me also see if it comes in a flag size suit that I can wear and misrepresent it for you, John. Ok?”

all my relatives that went through WWII and saw some shit never talk about it. they hate it. they saw what we humans do. they saw the edge of our irrelevance. our ability to kill ourselves off. no god was there. no country. no service. just suffering. the absence of all that glitters.

Fred-dawg says all this shows “character”. is that uniquely Republican? tortured Republicans are more character-ery than tortured Democrats … what about tortured citizens in their own country - how ’bout some UNIVERSAL FUCKING HEALTH CARE!!!!!

(note: DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENCY ARE BETTER FOR 80-90% of the population. It is a nice piece of statistics that should be in all our heads. Statistics lie - but why?)
